Hedwig is a beautiful snowy white owl that was given to Harry Potter on his 11th birthday by Rubeus Hagrid. It was the first birthday present he had ever received. Harry considers Hedwig to be one of his closest friends. She is loyal, affectionate, smart, and incredibly resourceful. Anyone would be lucky to have an owl, like Hedwig.
